New podcast on heritage Latvian addresses diaspora families
The recently launched podcast "Vārti" (in Latvian) reaches out to Latvian families around the world to help maintain their heritage language in the diaspora. It features interviews with experts in multilinguality, family language policy and heritage language maintenance, along with insights from diaspora parents and children.

Signe Rirdance, doctoral student in Baltic languages at Stockholm University, was interviewed for the first episode that introduces key concepts, aims and approaches in heritage language maintenance. Signe is also a member of the team of volunteers and researchers producing the podcast. Six episodes are planned for the first season, and Fredrik Bissinger, lecturer at Stockholm University, will be the guest in one of the upcoming episodes as well.
